This page documents the guidelines and procedures for each of the alert levels aboard the SEV Torch. Note that these are not laws, and the Commanding Officer may alter them as they see fit. Make sure to look at the Standard Operating Procedure for universal guidelines that do not change with the alert level. Note that only one alert level may be set at once, so the most relevant alert should be chosen.
Code Green
The normal operating procedure. There is no threat to the ship, nor crew.
Conditions | Description |
---|---|
Chain of Command, Line of Succession | CO > XO > RD > Ranking Department Head > Bridge Officers > Other Staff Officers > Ranking Enlisted Crew |
Weapons and Armor | Non-lethal weapons may be worn openly by security personnel. Security personnel must stow lethal weapons out of sight, in a holster, or on body armor. |
Discipline | Follow due process. |
Secure and High Security Areas | Secure areas are unlocked and accessible. Access to high security areas permitted for all authorized personnel. |
Medical | Suit Sensors are not mandatory at any setting. |
Engineering | EVA suit wear authorized for EVA Operations. |
Research | All operations unrestricted. Expeditions authorized. Asset Protection may wear and utilize any gear the Research Director deems necessary within the research laboratory. |
Rules of Engagement | Engage with non-lethal force after multiple verbal warnings and attempts to de-escalate. Do not engage with lethal force, unless facing non-sapient animals such as carp and spiders. |
Docking | Docking procedures normal |
Telecommunications | Galactic Common only on all public or departmental radio channels. Unrestricted use of all systems. |
Code Violet
Elevated alert status. There is a serious viral outbreak, many personnel are injured or dead, or another major medical emergency.
Conditions | Description |
---|---|
Chain of Command and Line of Succession | CO > XO > CMO > RD > Ranking Department Head > Bridge Officers > Other Staff Officers > Ranking Enlisted Crew. The Commanding Officer and the Executive Officer should strongly defer to the Chief Medical Officer on medical concerns. |
Discipline | Follow due process. Non-medical personnel are to ensure they aren't getting in any medical staff's way, up to and including ordering the halls cleared, and must obey relevant instructions from medical personnel, such as leaving an area, remaining in quarantine, or assisting in rescue efforts if capable. |
Medical | Medical personnel required to report to supervisor for orders. EVA equipment recommended for emergency responders, if relevant. Suit Sensors are required to be set to the highest possible level. All personnel should ensure they have a functioning emergency air supply. |
Research | Xenobiology and virology research suspended and locked down, if relevant. If the source of the emergency is a viral or xenobiological incident, and the cause of which can be reliably traced to an away site, expeditions to that site require permission from the Commanding Officer, Executive Officer, Chief Medical Officer, or Research Director, in that order, before embarking. |
Docking | Docking should be suspended if the emergency is a result of a viral outbreak or xenobiological threat. |
Code Orange
Elevated alert status. The ship has suffered severe damage, the supermatter is delaminating/has delaminated/is ejected, there is a major fire, an incoming meteor storm, or another major engineering emergency.
Conditions | Description |
---|---|
Chain of Command and Line of Succession | CO > XO > CE > RD > Ranking Department Head > Bridge Officers > Other Staff Officers > Ranking Enlisted Crew. The Commanding Officer and the Executive Officer should strongly defer to the Chief Engineer on engineering concerns. |
